What IV Drips does
IV Drips is an educational tool for learning and practicing IV infusion calculations. You enter a practice dose and bag, and the app converts it to a pump rate in mL/hr (or a rate back to a dose), showing every step of the calculation. It does not recommend doses. IV Drips is for educational purposes only and must not be used in any clinical setting or for any real patient.
Common questions
Why does the app refuse to calculate? The dose unit and the bag unit must belong to the same family. For example, a units/hr dose needs a bag labelled in units, not mg. Check the order and the bag label.
Where does the drug information come from? FDA-approved prescribing information (linked to DailyMed on each drug), the ASHP Standardize 4 Safety national concentration standards, and the ISMP high-alert list. See Settings → About the data & sources.
Can I add my facility's drips? Yes. Go to My Drugs → Add a drug, or open a drug's calculator and save your bag as the default.
Is my data backed up or shared? Nothing leaves your device. See the privacy policy.
Important
Always verify results against the prescriber's order, the product label, your institution's protocols and your infusion pump's drug library. IV Drips is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional judgment.
